What is Trauma?

Picture
Traumatic experiences often involve a threat to a person's life or safety, that leaves that person feeling overwhelmed and alone . It can be traumatic, even if it doesn't involve physical harm. It’s not the facts that determine whether an event is traumatic, but your emotional experience of the event. The more helpless and frightened you feel, the more likely you are to be traumatized.

"The best thing you can do is realize that there is nothing wrong with you, and that it isn't your fault, everything around you was the crazy part."
~ Trauma Survivor
